Seminar "Personalizing the User Experience: Techniques and Applications from Selected Domains (automotive, retail & web)"
(Summer Term 2012)
The ability to accommodate different target groups is one of the main characteristics of modern intelligent user interfaces. Benefits of such personalization include improved safety, added comfort, increased efficiency, or enabling access for users with special needs. In this seminar, we will discuss the foundations for personalization: knowledge acquisition, knowledge representation / user modeling, and UI adaptation. For each of these topics we will combine fundamental techniques with example applications from mainly three domains: automotive, retail (shopping), and the (adaptive) web.
