 Being a member of the Cluster of Excellence - Multimodal Computing & Interaction at the University of the Saarland, Dipl.-Inform. Tim Schwartz joined the DFKI automotive group in January 2009 as an associate member. His PhD topic is "The Always Best Positioned Paradigm: Fusion of Heterogeneous Sources for Indoor and Outdoor Positioning of Nomadic Devices". Tim is consulting the group in the project SIM-TD (Secure Intelligent Mobility Testfield Germany), where the DFKI team is responsible for the HMI (Human Machine Interaction).
Tim studied Computer Sciences and Computational Linguistics at the Saarland University. He joined DFKI in 2004 as a member of the Collaborative Research Centre SFB 378, Resource Adaptive Cognitive Processes, which was funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) . In 2005 he joined the follow-up project Transfer Unit 53 RENA (Resource Adaptive Navigation), where he built an indoor positioning system based on active RFID tags and infrared beacons. Tims research interests are indoor positioning, nomadic devices and Human Computer Interaction.
