Twitter4Car Presented to German Federal Minister of Economics and Technology |
Saarbrücken, August 18th 2009. DFKI presented in-car multimedia applications to Dr. Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg, the German federal minister of economics and technology. The system Twitter4Car demonstrated on the example of microblogging service "Twitter", how multimodal Interaction with Internet-based Services may look like in the future. Besides speech-based control and touch screen interaction, the user can interact with the system via eye gaze. Any "tweet" (short textual message) can be entered via speech -- potential recognition errors can then be corrected with a brief gaze to the screen. The Twitter4Car system was also a topic of TV reportage "Ländermagazin", broadcasted on September 10th 2009 on the German TV channel 3SAT. A press release in German can be found here.
